ParkSpot — a parking app that tells you when a spot just became legal, not just where the cheap meters are

I built this because my wife kept getting stressed hunting for legal parking in Stockholm, and the idea just kept growing from there.

ParkSpot shows two things on a live map: Nu (what's legal right now) and Natt (what's safe until tomorrow morning) — pulled straight from Stockholm's open data on street cleaning schedules and parking restrictions, no manual curation.

A few things I haven't seen other parking apps do:

Streets that just finished their cleaning get a distinct highlight — genuinely freshly-legal spots, not just "technically not illegal."

Tap a result and it hands off straight to Google Maps for driving directions — most apps stop at "here's a legal spot" and leave you to figure out the rest.

No login, no ads, free.

What I'm actually trying to figure out right now isn't the business model — it's whether this solves a problem worth solving. Stockholm has started using AI-equipped scan cars checking something like 5,000 parked cars an hour for violations, and it makes me wonder if a tool like this could mean fewer fines for drivers and less enforcement load for the city, not just a convenience feature.
