Does Base-K use AWS, Azure or Google cloud? 🤔
Thanks Sergey! Base-K runs on Hetzner — European infrastructure —
though the architecture is cloud-agnostic and could run on any server
in the world.
The choice was deliberate: data sovereignty, predictable costs, and
no dependency on any single cloud provider.
Most platforms end up stitching together 4 or 5 different vendors just
to get auth, database, storage, email and realtime working. That
fragmentation has a cost — in complexity, in pricing unpredictability,
and in vendor risk. Base-K consolidates all of that into one SDK,
one bill, one decision.
The ceiling is much higher than what's visible today. Base-K is the
core of a larger ecosystem — a proprietary operating system
and an
identity platform that connects all products are on the way.

Hetzner is "Europe's best kept secret" — and that's exactly the point.
Most developers never consider it because they default to the big three.
But the real story isn't Hetzner specifically — it's that Base-K is
cloud-agnostic by architecture. It runs on Hetzner today, but it can
run on any server in the world — including a developer's own hardware.
A basement server. A $5 VPS. Any machine running Linux. You decide
where your data lives.
That's the part most BaaS platforms miss: a solo dev in Brazil, Nigeria,
India, or Portugal — anywhere AWS is too expensive and Firebase scales
to unaffordable — can now build with corporate-grade infrastructure
