Hi everyone — I’m Dario, founder of Obolus.
I built Obolus to help people understand whether an international job offer or move abroad actually makes financial sense.
It’s mainly for expats, remote workers and professionals comparing opportunities across countries.
I started it because gross salary comparisons are often misleading once taxes, rent, healthcare and living costs are taken into account. I ended up building the tax calculations for all 8 supported countries myself after a lot of digging through very different tax systems and official documentation.
Right now I’m working on making the relocation flow more useful for real decisions — especially better city-level comparisons, more personal scenarios and clearer side-by-side job offer comparisons.
The product will be launching here tomorrow!

Welcome, Dario — this tackles a genuinely difficult decision. How are you planning to show the source and freshness of each tax and cost-of-living assumption? For something this consequential, that trust layer may be as important as the comparison itself.

So for Obolus to provide an accurate estimate/report you have to keep an accurate database of tax, rent, insurance and other expenses for every single country in the world? Or at least for the most popular ones? 🤔
Congrats on the launch and welcome to the community! Love the idea, you can't imagine how many chats I've had with AI about these exact questions. The problem is they're scattered across different chats when it would be much better to have it all organized in one place with the actual data behind it. Good luck with Obolus!
