Hi, I’m Ayman. My experience with debt led me to build MyDebtLens

    Hello everyone,

I’m Ayman Al-Adham, founder of MyDebtLens.

Like many people, I have experienced what it means to live with debt. Not just the numbers themselves, but the uncertainty that comes with them.

You may know your balances and monthly payments, yet still struggle to answer simple questions.

    Am I actually making progress?

What happens if I pay a little more toward one debt?

Can I afford a new payment without making everything else harder?

How much pressure will this put on the next few months?

That experience stayed with me. I did not start MyDebtLens because I had all the answers or because I wanted to present myself as someone who had solved debt for everyone else.

I started it because I believed people dealing with debt deserved a clearer way to understand their situation, compare their choices, and see what those choices could mean before acting on them.

    That idea gradually became MyDebtLens.

It is still growing, and I am still learning from the people who use it and from other founders building products around real problems.

I am glad to be part of the SaaS Hive community and look forward to getting to know the people behind the products here.

What personal experience or frustration led you to start building your product?

Welcome to the community, Oll 🙋🏻‍♂️
Is MyDebtLens a web app in the cloud or it work on a local computer?

Thanks, Sergey, and thank you for the welcome.
MyDebtLens is a cloud-hosted web app, so it runs in the browser and does not require installation on a local computer.
Users enter their debt information manually, and connecting bank accounts is not required.

I would not want anyone including website developers and database administrators know about my dept situation. This is a very sensitive information. May I ask how is it stored? 🤔 Can it be traced back to my name? 🤔

That is a very fair concern, Sergey.

MyDebtLens stores saved information in a cloud-hosted database. Many sensitive debt and household-planning fields are encrypted at the application level. The information remains linked to the user’s account so the app can restore it and calculate scenarios, so it is not anonymous or end-to-end encrypted.

Normal administrative screens do not display individual debt names, debt records, or raw income entries. However, because the application must process the information, an authorized server operator with access to both the database and encryption keys could technically access it.

MyDebtLens does not sell personal debt data to advertisers. Anyone who'd rather explore the app before entering real information can use the public Demo, which contains fictional sample data.

BTW, this post was mainly intended as a personal introduction, so I did not go deeply into the product itself. I will follow it with a separate MyDebtLens introduction covering how the app works, what information it stores, and the privacy and security boundaries more fully.

"Am I actually making progress" is such a familiar question — I hit the same wall building FounderFlow while juggling three businesses at once, constantly trying to tell if I was actually moving the needle across all of them or just felt busy. Congrats on turning your own frustration into something real for others dealing with debt. Welcome to the community!

Welcome Ayman! Debt is one of those problems people don't talk about openly, so building a tool that gives clarity without judgment is a great way of helping people in debt. The questions you listed are exactly the ones that keep people up at night, and most financial tools just show you numbers without helping you understand what to do with them.
For me, the frustration was watching great products stay invisible because AI couldn't find them. That turned into SaaS Hive and Unhid. Every product I've built with my co-founder Sergey came from a problem we couldn't solve with what was already out there.
Glad to have you in the community!
