Feedback Exchange
Get honest feedback from fellow founders. Give feedback to earn the right to request it.
This guide covers:
What Feedback Exchange Is
Feedback Exchange is a give-to-get system built into the SaaS Hive founder community. It pairs founders who want feedback on their product with founders willing to give it.
The idea is simple: before you can ask the community for feedback on your product, you help other founders first. You review their products, share honest observations, and earn points. When you have enough points, you post your own request and receive feedback from founders who've been through the same process.
Alternatively, founders on the Starter or Growth plan receive a monthly point allowance, so they can post feedback requests right away without needing to earn points first.
Every request stays active for five days. During that window, other founders can review your product and submit their feedback. After five days, the request is archived and you keep all the feedback you received.
How the Points System Works
Points are the currency of Feedback Exchange. You earn them by giving feedback. You spend them by posting requests. Founders on a paid plan receive a monthly point allowance automatically.
- Earning points: When you submit feedback on another founder's request, the request owner reviews it and rates it from 1 to 5. You earn that many points.
- Spending points: Posting a feedback request costs 5 points.
- Refunds: If your request expires after five days and nobody submitted feedback, you get your 5 points back automatically.
- Paid plan bonus: Starter plan members receive 5 points per month; Growth plan members receive 10 points per month — automatically topped up if your balance is below that threshold.
Your point balance is visible on the Feedback Exchange page. It updates in real time as you earn and spend.
Giving Feedback to Earn Points
The Feedback Exchange page shows all active requests from other founders. Each card tells you what product they want reviewed, what specific feedback they're looking for, and how many days are left before the request expires.
How to submit feedback:
- Browse the active requests on the Feedback Exchange page.
- Click "Review Product" on a request that interests you.
- Read the founder's ask carefully — they'll tell you exactly what they want help with.
- Try the product (follow the link to their site), then write your feedback using the editor.
- Submit. The founder will review your feedback and rate it.
You can submit one piece of feedback per request. You can edit your feedback until the founder rates it. Once rated, your feedback is locked and you receive your points.
Write feedback you'd want to receive. Specific, actionable observations earn higher ratings than vague praise. Point out what works, what doesn't, and what you'd change.
Posting a Feedback Request
Once you have at least 5 points, you can post your own feedback request. You can earn points by reviewing other founders' products, or get them automatically each month on a Starter or Growth plan. Here's what you need:
- A product on SaaS Hive. Select from your listed products (any status — draft or live).
- A clear description of what you want feedback on. Be specific. "Is our pricing page clear?" works better than "What do you think?"
Rules for posting:
- You can have one active request at a time.
- Each request stays live for five days.
- Posting costs 5 points (deducted immediately).
- You must rate all feedback you've received on previous requests before posting a new one.
Rating the Feedback You Receive
When founders submit feedback on your request, you'll see their responses on your request page. You rate each one from 1 to 5:
- 1 — Not useful
- 2 — Somewhat helpful
- 3 — Decent feedback
- 4 — Thoughtful and actionable
- 5 — Outstanding insight
Your rating determines how many points the responder earns. A rating of 4 means they get 4 points. This encourages founders to write thoughtful, specific feedback rather than surface-level comments.
You must rate every response. Until you rate all feedback on your expired requests, you won't be able to post new content in the community forums or submit new feedback requests. This keeps the system fair for everyone.
Once you rate a response, an "Acknowledged by Founder" badge appears on it — visible to everyone. The specific rating number remains private between you and the system.
Benefits for Paid Plan Members
Founders on the Starter or Growth plan receive a monthly point replenishment so they can request feedback consistently without worrying about running out.
- Starter plan: Your balance is topped up to 5 points at the start of each billing cycle (if below 5).
- Growth plan: Your balance is topped up to 10 points at the start of each billing cycle (if below 10).
If you've earned more than your plan's threshold through giving feedback, your balance stays as-is — you never lose earned points. The replenishment only kicks in when you're below the threshold.
Paid plan members still participate in the same system. You still earn points by giving feedback, and you can accumulate well above your plan's threshold.
Tips for Getting Useful Feedback
The quality of feedback you receive depends on how well you frame your request. Here's what works:
- Be specific. Instead of "What do you think of my product?", try "Does the pricing page clearly explain what you get on each tier?"
- Give context. Mention who your target audience is, what stage you're at, and what you're trying to improve.
- Ask one thing at a time. A focused question gets focused answers. If you need feedback on onboarding AND pricing, post them as separate requests over time.
- Provide access. If your product requires signup, mention whether there's a free trial or demo mode that reviewers can use.
- Rate generously. Founders who consistently earn higher ratings will prioritize your requests next time. Building goodwill helps everyone.
